Activision Changes Box Art Due to Baja Dispute

“Joystiq reports that Activision and THQ have settled their previously reported box art lawsuit out of court. Activision has taken the step of changing the art (above), which apparently appeased THQ enough to dismiss the suit. Originally, THQ claimed that the box art for Activision’s Score International Baja 1000 was “virtually identical” to THQ’s Baja: Edge of Control, which released nearly a month earlier and had box art available online since June. ”

“THQ had contacted Activision before the release of Score International Baja 1000 asking them to change the art, but the company initially refused. The fact that Activision has now relented on an earlier stance could mean they weren’t confident in their case, or simply that they didn’t want a protracted legal battle. With the holiday buying season about to go full-swing, this is good timing to save hapless relatives from picking the wrong title when shopping for gamers.”
